# Privacy

This site explains the example domains example-petstore.com and example-commerce-host.com. There are no accounts, no forms and no advertising.

## What is recorded

Like almost every website, the server records technical data of every request to these domains, such as the IP address, the time, the requested address and what the browser or software sends along. Passwords, keys and other secrets are never stored in readable form.

## What for

To keep the site secure and working, to recognise abuse, and to see which outdated examples are still in use. The legal basis is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

## How long

IP addresses are shortened after 30 days, so they no longer point to a single connection. The other data is deleted after a year. The data is stored on a server in the Netherlands and is not sold or shared with anyone, except the hosting provider that runs the server.

## Cookies

This site sets no cookies and uses no tracking or third-party analytics. Your choice of language, light or dark theme and pausing the animation is kept only in your own browser (localStorage) and is not sent to the server.

## Your rights

You can ask for access to, correction or deletion of data about you, and object to the processing, by e-mail to the address below. You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority ([Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens](https://www.autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl/)) or to the supervisory authority in your own country.
